The Good and Beautiful God: Falling in Love With the God Jesus Knows (The Apprentice Series)
By James Bryan Smith

For those looking for an introduction to spiritual formation, it’s harder to find a better start to this book. It’s the first of three books in the Apprentice Series, and it’s based on a 30-week curriculum for Christlikeness, and I think it’s hitting at all the right places. Some who’ve been further down the journey may find this elementary (or even feel a bit talked down to, particularly when the author starts having made-up interviews with dead saints), but it’s meant for the average Christian — or average small group of a church — and in that way, I think it succeeds nicely in providing a way for Christians to actually become more like Jesus.
