It’s a good story of redemption for an ex-con named Petey Greene, who’s loud-talking ways lands him a job as a disc jockey. Cheadle and Ojiofor give great performances, and the portion of the movie that journeys through the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. had me in tears. It’s a powerful story, though by the middle of the movie, it starts to lose its dramatic tension.
Some critics have pointed out the historical fallacies in the movie, and felt that the director may have glossed over some of Greene’s darker sides, but I found the movie compelling, and it keeps on inspiring me to “keep it real.”
