Racism can only be addressed through grace (even when approaching issues of justice), and the author’s call to gracism is refreshing. He does a decent job by highlighting racialized systems in a gracious way. And he does well to include other races in the race discussion, instead of keeping it a black-and-white issue. Gracism is needed to navigate our multicultural 21st century.

Though the stories don’t always make their point, it’s a short book intended as an introduction to the issues of race from a Christian viewpoint. If you’ve been on the journey, you’ll feel that the book doesn’t go far enough. But if you’ve never woven an understanding of race into your Christian worldview, then this book is a good starting point.

But the best part about the book is its title. Oh, and the cover’s not too shabby either.
