I’ve been looking for this book for a long time. It’s a book that breaks down what is needed for leadership in today’s postmodern millieu — and clearly and compellingly highlights the role and tasks of today’s missional leader. Instead of calling us to more strategies, tactics and structures, the authors call leaders to create missional cultures that inspire imaginations and yet are deeply rooted in the Biblical narratives.
At the same time, books like these can fall into the temptation of painting a glorious picture of Christian leadership without providing any practicals. This book avoids that as well — highlighting solid and practical plans of engagement to build a missional culture. It’s extremely helpful in navigating change — and how to do it well without alienating the people we lead.
It’s the best book on Christian leadership in postmodernity that I’ve read in a while.
