Nicely put. And I agree with Anita and Eric, too! The relaxing part is hard, and each day brings new challenges, but the joy keeps deepening, too.

Longtime fan, first time commenter.

Great post, I resonate with it a great deal. I think we have some friends in common although we've never met, but judging by the books that you're reading and have read, I'd consider it a safe bet that I might already be able to call you friend. Hope to meet you in person someday.

Peace,
David

All soooo true! It's funny because if you were to do a "cost benefit analysis" of the pros and cons of having or not having kids, the have nots would win out every time. That's because you can't quantify what makes being a parent being the best experience you could ever ever sign up for. Duke and I feel like we really never understood life, ourselves, God, anything before we had Jadon...like it was all sorta meaningless in comparison to the journey of parenthood. And somehow all the sleepless nights and feelings of helplessness are worth it just to see that little smile. (And the laughs are even better...something to look forward to!)

Welcome to the club. I too feel helpless when Cassia cries and there is nothing I can do to soothe her except say "Mommy's coming."

I hear that there is a day when kids want their dad's more than their mom's but I haven't experienced it yet. Let me know if and when you do. =)
